ALICE COSTELLO

During a time of massive unemployment and food lines, our country was almost at the brink of total economical collapse. The economy was so damaged that some families actually sold off the oldest child of the family to help feed the rest of the family. It was a sad time, hence the name The Great Depression.

How ever that did not stop Alice Costello, a teacher from a small community in Southern New Jersey from trying to help the children in her school district prepare for the future, teaching them how to read, write, add and multiply. Her diligent work ethics and discipline caught on with the local educators and parents. A pattern was created and the teaching skills became a vital tool for the community. It was a good start for the future of the Brooklawn School District. The standard of higher education was set for the generations to come.

We thank you Alice Costello and the teachers that helped us get to where we are today.

You will never be forgotten.
